MedStat Health & Safety delivers expert training in CPR, First Aid, BLS, EMT Skills Verification, and workplace safety. Serving the Antelope Valley and beyond, we offer both in-person and blended learning to fit your schedule.

MedStat is an approved training site for the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, and Health & Safety Institute. All training follows the latest ILCOR guidelines.

Our Leadership

Founder/Program Director - Matt Nybakken, EMT

Matt Nybakken began his career in Emergency Medical Services in 1998 as an EMT for a small private ambulance company in Lancaster, California. Over the years, he advanced through the ranks—from EMT to Operations Supervisor, and eventually served as General Manager for an ambulance service in the Los Angeles area.

Today, Matt continues to serve his community as an EMT with Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. He is a certified instructor with the American Heart Association, Health & Safety Institute, and the American Red Cross, teaching First Aid, CPR, BLS, and Emergency Medical Response (EMR). He is also a nationally certified EMS educator through the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE).

Matt is deeply passionate about public health education, EMS, and public safety. Outside of work, he is a dedicated family man and a custom car enthusiast who enjoys working on his own custom truck. 



Clinical Director - Ken Kaufmann, EMT-P

Ken Kaufmann began his career in Emergency Medical Services in 1994 as an EMT in Queens, New York, and advanced to the role of Paramedic in 1998. A lifelong surfer and CrossFit enthusiast, Ken eventually made the move to the West Coast, drawn by its world-class surf and active lifestyle.

He is currently a California-certified Paramedic and serves as an Operations Manager for a private ambulance service in Southern California. Ken is an American Heart Association (AHA) aligned instructor and a certified EMS educator through the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE).

Ken is passionate about physical fitness, EMS, and public safety education, and is dedicated to promoting health, resilience, and preparedness in the communities he serves.
